Greyhounds make "greyt" pets

Welcome to IWaG!

Greyhound Adoption, Education and Support

I Want A Greyhound (IWaG) Inc. is a registered not-for-profit greyhound rehoming, education and support charity.

IWaG’s mission is to find forever pet homes for all greyhounds placed in our care.

The founders, members, volunteers and supporters of IWaG are passionate about greyhound welfare. We are opposed to the harming of any animal and the use of animals for entertainment.

One of IWaG’s core philosophies is that we will not harm other animals while undertaking our greyhound rehoming work. Examples include a prohibition on the sale of animal products.

As well as rehoming, we believe it is important to focus on educating the wider community about the welfare of greyhounds by building a strong, supportive greyhound loving community and network of partners.

Hound of the Month

Meet Xena!

Xena is a playful black 3-year-old with a cheeky nature and stumpy tail.

Xena is a lovely girl who is just struggling to settle to pet life.  But she's clever and has attended Greyhound 101 classes with Fellowship of the Paws - Dog training.

Xena needs a special foster to adopt home where she can receive the support she needs to regain her confidence and independence.

Xena needs a home as an only dog (no cats), where at least one adult (or dog-savvy older teenager), is home all the time and a family member, friend or neighbour is able to dog sit if all members of the home need to go out.

You can find more out about Xena on our 'Adopt' page.

Hounds in homes

Sweet, gentle, blue boy, Bazil, was been adopted by his foster family.

A timid boy, Bazil has taken several months to adapt to pet life.  Initially, he preferred to spend his days by himself, outside or in the sunroom.  But the patience of his foster family who allowed Bazil to progress at his own pace has paid off and they recently found him inside on their bed!

Bazil loves food, cuddles with Mum and Dad, walks, hanging out with his hound siblings and stealing yarn when he's feeling cheeky.
